Why Windows 10 is a hard requirement?

Why is Windows 10/Windows 2016 as the Hyper-V OS is a hard requirement? AFAIK, the parent partition does not affect how the VMs function and I have Windows 2016 VMs with S2D and Storage replica running just fine!

Can you please explain?

Hello Ravisha,

its simple -
1) I'm using PowerShell direct (directly accessing VM using PowerShell) during domain joining VMs. This is new feature to Windows 10.
2) I'm running Windows 10 on my machine, I did not test anything else.
3) if you want to use shared/replica scenario, it needs shared vhdx, therefore you need to have server OS as it has failover clustering feature.

Feel free to rewrite the scripts. But its easier to update your OS.
